Who we are.
Family Living Center (FLC) was incorporated in 1979 by Mabel Higgs and our organization has been assisting adult individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Oakland County, since that time.
Family Living Center (FLC) presently operates 5 (five) group home facilities. Each located across Oakland County, in Bloomfield Hills, Lathrup Village, Troy, Waterford and West Bloomfield.
Family Living Center (FLC) currently serves 30 residents among the homes. Our staff includes 31 (thirty one) qualified, trained Direct Care Workers and Home Managers, many of whom have been employed at Family Living Center over twenty-five(25) years.
Each Direct Care Worker and Home Managers are fully trained as required by the State of Michigan and EasterSeals/MORC (Macomb Oakland Regional Center). Each employee goes through a thorough check of references, finger prints and back ground checks. Once hired, each employee will have CPR and First Aid training, physicals and TB tests/shots as required.
Family Living Center (FLC) is a non-profit agency, we contract with Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) and receive funding from other local community mental health boards and their affiliates and the Michigan Department of Community Mental Health. We also receive supports such as nursing, training, social work and psychology through EasterSeals/MORC (Macomb Oakland Regional Center, Inc.)
Family Living Center (FLC) works in association with numerous agencies, local and intermediate school districts, Michigan Assisted Living Association and many others.
